birds
another breakup poem probably from around the same time as the last? idk im uploading them so i can clear out my notes app tbh
the sun rose
in the morning without you.
birds sang and chirped
a wistful tune of longing
for something they had never had.
a breeze blew through,
a sign of you.
you swayed in the trees
and rustled through the grasses.
in those lovely winds,
you carried hope.
noon crept by,
the birds sung sweetly.
they sung a song of love,
something they had received
from the lovely breeze.
in the afternoon,
your breeze became violent,
it brought down trees
and destroyed hope.
the birds cried out
for their love
that had been swept away
by your negligent winds.
the sun set in silence.
your breeze was absent,
but the birds are still here.
they do not sing,
for they have lost
what they had longed for
in the morning.
the sun rises once more
in the morning without you.
the birds sing and chirp
a sorrowful song of grief
for the most precious thing
that they have lost.

i love how potent this imagery is
"the sun rose in the morning without you" is a wonderful opening. you feel the absence immediately
